Busy busy week this was.
Started on Monday by getting all my video, sound and narrative together for one massive editing session. Things are looking really good and I am pleased with my sound. Also I been having a few fires and editing images and film of this.
Also on Monday managed to get in touch with PennyWould for the St Andrews Church Tree festival in Utterby in three weeks. Met Penny and the rest of the church committee re: works for an exhibition running along side the tree festival. We bounced a few ideas about and managed to get some in return. Made a plan of what is going in the church and mentioned a few ideas that need the go ahead from the vicar. Just need to have a meeting and arrange the next steps and see what the college are willing to lend us equipment wise.
The church is a beautiful setting for a tree festival and also to have contemporary art within. Cannot wait for the go ahead to get some stuff in there hopefully some great projections and installations with the rest of the trio (Caroline & Sue) who will be doing some contemporary & organic sculpture.
Writing essays EEEK! my favourite NOT!
I tend to be bouncing about a touch with the subject matter for my essay. I am really wanting to get something down about art in the modern age and how Little value it has if any and also how throwaway some of the art is, maybe even art made to be destroyed... More research needed I think !!!
Talking about art made to be destroyed, I have set up a small mock room in the set of a bedroom and made some small furniture items out of sponge board. this is going to be filmed and then set alight and burned. I have taken a few photos of the scene and they look quite real when dimly lit.
Friday we had visitors, two artists from Lincoln Laura & Dale who both gave talks on their degree show works and what they have been doing since graduating and how they manage to get around finding spaces to work and display work. Later on in the afternoon we had a workshop with them. We used a piece of work we have been working on recently and as a group found the best way to curate the show. This was really interesting and I thoroughly enjoyed bouncing the ideas about. I made a makeshift fireplace with some display cases and projected my film and sound piece against it. The effects were brilliant and looked really effective.
Also had a mini meeting re: Utterby Church, Proper meeting all being well on Monday and get things moving. This weekend I have a few things to sort out at home D.I.Y time, also tonnes of research and reading to do and if I have the time I may do a spot of printing.
