Non half term week mmmmm.
managed to get in for 3 of the days and all of them productive. I have had a go at printing onto my home made paper but to no avail the paper turned back to mush. I will try and bind the next batch with some kind of bonding agent to strengthen it further and then try to print on it again.
I have been recording some sounds of fire for my childhood memory films and sound installations some of then are really clear too, It has taken me nearly 3 weeks to get a decently calm night when I could burn outside and record without much disturbance. The weather was not my side and it was either raining or too windy or both.
I have also started to film some ideas with the demijohn and fire. These looked better indoors but I have had to be really careful and not set the house on fire again...!
I have also been catching up on some more reading and looking deeper into some installation works. I still have a few ideas for spaces inside the college but I do need a decent film of fire first so that it can be projected to where I want it. This week was also a good time to record some of my thoughts and memories as the college was really quiet, this soon changed however on Friday when I spent all day in the 3D room cutting out wooden flames and smoothing them down and rounding all the edges off with the power tools, it was great to get my hands on something. In the afternoon these bits of wood were used in the vacuum former to get various effects with different depths. The vacuum former was an interesting gadget and once the procedure is mastered then the experiments can start. The flame forming sheets came out better than I expected but the More 3 dimensional ones were the best.
This weekend I am sorting out my studio at home so that I can make a filming area, this should be fun as anyone with a studio knows that you never throw anything away. As an artist everything has a use..(or will have one day..we tell ourselves) so everything really is just going to be moved about. So on that busy note I will sign of for today... TTFN
