2nd Semester Week 10

Oh lordy where does the bloody time go to?? Felt a lot better this week and had a busy but uneventful week all in all... managed to get some decal words set up and printed off and varnished. made some more maquettes of some light and sculpture pieces that i am interesting in making on a larger scale and made a move on the dissertation proposal eeek!

I have collected some simple items of stainless steel cutlery and gave them a good cleaning ready to have text applied to them. these will be a piece with a plate and that will also have text upon it, I have been using words that I associated with mealtimes when I was young... this involves wordplay and word associationand to say that I am not one for writing I love the use of words or text within work and find it can be quite powerful. I am using this in a contemporary and conceptual way and this will just be one of a few set ups that I hope to get finished in time.

I am also using some perspex blocks to add text to and film these or photograph them so that they look larger than life and have the pics blown up, but I will see how they turn out and I might possibly try to make them larger.

I have also changed my mind for the dissertation proposal again and do not seem to be doing myself any favours by doing so but I am finding it hard to get research on what I am actually interested in or even get primary research buy contacting any artists that are doing what I want to write about. I suppose it may change again if I cannot get any more joy with it.

Friday was a good day, I attended a talk and participate seminar with an exhibit designer that was talking to the design guys. This was really interesting and had a laugh, possibly will come in very handy for next years degree space layout.. We also attended the last coffee morning of the 3rd years helping them raise money for their degree show in May enjoyed the coffee and the yummy cakes nom nom nom.. ahahha.

But the highlight of my day was filming for a collegue Sue Riemer while she was doing a performance piece for her conceptual work. It was a hot day in a hot room but the laughs kept coming once we had set up the room, and then set it up again then again and then again ahahah there is a lot more to performance and filming than meets the eye and especially for just a few minutes of film.

Next week is the Easter break but I will manage to get in for a few of the days and hopefully finish a few ventures off.. and also get my powerpoint presentation underway for professional practice.
