It seemed that the Christmas break would never end and five weeks later we are back.
I arrived back at college on Tuesday and dismantled my studio of the work that had been marked and it seems so bare and unwelcoming as I usually have loads of work on my walls. Encouragement to get creating if nothing else.
This week has been industry week and the college and university centre have been holding seminars by various speakers all week. At Westwood Ho we had the pleasure of Paul Collinson and Neo Heny, these are two very different artists that have taken very different paths with their work, while Paul Collinson maintains the artistic route with his work Neo Heny uses her artwork in a community way to strive forward artistic values and the importance of art and culture within our children today. Her community spirit and the work she brings in to the local areas with various projects capture the awareness of what is missing in our society and what we miss and lack with our children in the modern world. As well as the community work Neo Heny has also continued her work as an independent artist and walked us through her work over the years and how she has grown and changed with her ideas really was inspiring. Paul Collinson's work lead us from his abstract paintings to his photo realism work of the present and surprising techniques and ideas of his work from model landscapes again truly inspiring.
All this inspiration gets the creative juices flowing and getting ready to create is brilliant, its the getting started that is the hardest part. For myself i have to take a step back for the moment and look at my work and see where I can take it from the ideas and work that I have already created and push some boundaries and challenge my way of thinking.
